About the Role
As a Polish Interpreter in Newcastle, you will provide interpreting support for Polish-speaking individuals attending healthcare appointments, school meetings, welfare discussions and legal consultations across a range of professional settings.
Polish interpreters are consistently required across healthcare organisations including Northumbria Healthcare Trust and NHS North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group. Additional assignments are also available through NHS Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group especially within maternity services, outpatient care, occupational health and GP appointments.
Assignments may commonly involve:
- School Parent and Safeguarding Meetings
- GP and Hospital Appointments
- Employment and Benefits Discussions
- Housing and Tenancy Support Meetings
- Social Care and Welfare Reviews
Polish interpreters frequently work alongside Newcastle City Council services, schools, housing providers and public sector organisations supporting individuals and families across Newcastle and surrounding areas.

What you’ll be doing (Scope of Work)
As a Polish Interpreter, you will help the polish community and professionals communicate effectively during a wide range of appointments and discussions. Your responsibilities may include:
- Helping Polish-speaking individuals during healthcare, education and welfare appointments
- Providing interpreting services across face-to-face, telephone and video assignments
- Handling confidential information professionally.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout all appointments
- Understanding the cultural differences and making sure everything is interpreted correctly
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Fluency in Polish and English
- Relevant interpreting qualifications such as DPSI, CI or NRPSI (preferred)
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Two professional references and an up-to-date CV
- Valid proof of identity
- Previous experience in education, housing and public sector interpretation is an advantage
Please note: This is a self-employed position. You must manage your own HMRC registration and National Insurance.
