We are continuously recruiting Vietnamese interpreters in Newcastle to support increasing demand across healthcare, community support organisations, local authorities and public sector departments. Vietnamese-speaking interpreters are regularly required throughout Newcastle and the wider North East region to assist individuals accessing essential healthcare and community-based services.

About the Role
As a Vietnamese Interpreter in Newcastle, you will help Vietnamese-speaking individuals communicate properly during appointments, consultations and public service interactions. A significant proportion of demand comes from NHS and community healthcare services, particularly through Northumbria Healthcare Trust and NHS Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group.
Vietnamese interpreters are often required during GP consultations, elderly care appointments, diabetes management clinics, outpatient visits and community wellbeing services. There is also ongoing demand across local authority and family support environments where Vietnamese-speaking residents may require assistance accessing public services and community programmes.
Assignments may commonly involve:
- Hospital and GP Appointments
- Elderly Care and Community Health Visits
- Housing and Welfare Discussions
- School and Parent Support Meetings
- Benefits and Public Service Appointments

What you’ll be doing (Scope of Work)
As a Vietnamese Interpreter, you will play an important role in helping people understand information clearly during appointments and support sessions. Your responsibilities may include:
- Helping Vietnamese-speaking individuals during healthcare and community support appointments
- Providing interpreting services across face-to-face, telephone and video assignments
- Handling confidential information professionally.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout all appointments
- Understanding the cultural differences and making sure everything is interpreted correctly
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English
- Relevant interpreting qualifications such as DPSI, CI or NRPSI (preferred)
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Two professional references and an up-to-date CV
- Valid proof of identity
- Previous experience in healthcare and public sector interpretation is an advantage
Please note: This is a self-employed position. You must manage your own HMRC registration and National Insurance.
