Farsi-speaking interpreters are regularly required throughout Newcastle and the wider North East region to assist individuals accessing essential public and community services.

About the Role
As a Farsi Interpreter in Newcastle, you will support Farsi-speaking individuals during important appointments and professional discussions across healthcare, immigration and public sector environments. A large proportion of interpreting demand comes from refugee and asylum-related services across Newcastle and surrounding areas.
There are also regular interpreting opportunities across healthcare organisations including Northumbria Healthcare Trust and NHS South Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group particularly within mental health services, community healthcare and wellbeing support programmes.
Assignments may commonly involve:
- Immigration and Asylum Interviews
- Mental Health and Counselling Sessions
- Housing and Welfare Appointments
- GP and Community Healthcare Visits
- Tribunal and Solicitor Consultations
Farsi interpreters frequently work alongside refugee support organisations, Newcastle City Council services and community outreach programmes and support newly arrived individuals and vulnerable families across the North East region.

What you’ll be doing (Scope of Work)
As a Farsi Interpreter, you will help individuals and professionals communicate clearly during sensitive appointments and support sessions. Your responsibilities may include:
- Helping Farsi-speaking individuals during healthcare and refugee support organizations
- Providing interpreting services across face-to-face, telephone and video assignments
- Helping Farsi-speaking individuals during asylum and housing appointments
- Handling confidential information professionally.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout all appointments
- Understanding the cultural differences and making sure everything is interpreted correctly
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Fluency in Farsi and English
- Relevant interpreting qualifications such as DPSI, CI or NRPSI (preferred)
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Two professional references and an up-to-date CV
- Valid proof of identity
- Previous experience in healthcare, immigration, legal and public sector is an advantage
Please note: This is a self-employed position. You must manage your own HMRC registration and National Insurance.
