We are currently looking for Czech interpreters in Newcastle to support an increasing demand across the healthcare sector, education, local authority departments and community support organisations. Czech-speaking interpreters are regularly needed throughout Newcastle and the wider North East region to assist individuals accessing important day-to-day public services.

About the Role

Working as a Czech Interpreter in Newcastle involves supporting Czech-speaking individuals and families during important interactions in schools, housing services and local authority departments across the city and wider North Eastern region.

A demand for Czech interpreters remains steady across NHS and community healthcare services, particularly through Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust and NHS Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group. Interpreters are regularly required for outpatient consultations, maternity appointments, physiotherapy sessions, occupational health reviews and GP referrals.

There is also ongoing demand within education and employment-related services. Many Czech-speaking residents require interpreting support during:

  • School Admissions and Parent Meetings
  • Job Centre and Employment Support Appointments
  • Housing and Tenancy Discussions
  • Benefits and Welfare Reviews
  • Family and Social Care Meetings

There are also opportunities to assist within legal and public sector environments including solicitor consultations, tribunal hearings and police-related appointments throughout the North East.

We are actively seeking British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters, including registered and trainee interpreters to join our network.

What you’ll be doing (Scope of Work)

As a Czech Interpreter, you will help people communicate confidently during important appointments and discussions. Your responsibilities may include: 

  • Helping Czech-speaking clients during healthcare, school and housing appointments
  • Providing clear interpreting support during welfare and employment-related meetings 
  • Keeping all information private and remaining impartial at all times
  • Supporting both clients and professionals during sensitive conversations and appointments
  • Making sure communication is accurate while understanding cultural and language differences

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Fluency in Czech and English
  • Relevant interpreting qualifications such as DPSI, CI or NRPSI (preferred)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate
  • Two professional references and an up-to-date CV
  • Valid proof of identity
  • Previous experience in healthcare, housing or public sector interpretation is an advantage 

Please note: This is a self-employed position. You must manage your own HMRC registration and National Insurance.
